Pastor’s Column
This coming Sunday, May 12, is Mother’s Day! It is a day to honor and remember the ones who gave us life, who nurtured us, who encouraged us along life’s way. When we were going through all the worries of adolescence there were our mothers who helped us through those challenging years. On Sunday, say a prayer of gratitude for your mother and mothers everywhere.
If you have not done so recently, why not drive by our new church location? I think you will be in for a pleasant surprise. The building is coming along more quickly than I imagined. Think to yourself: “Six months!” It may very well be that within six months the building will be ready for occupancy!
John Wilkerson, chair of our building team, has reminded us that we have an opportunity to make our new building more serviceable by sacrificial giving. We need $385,000.00 to enter a building that will be pleasing to behold and without debt. This will be our gift to the next generations of Christians. It will enable us to minister to people in Northwest Columbus for years to come. We need to have this money come in over the next month in order to be of use while construction is proceeding apace. I hope you will make this a matter of earnest prayer and generosity.
This coming Friday evening (May 10) our church will be providing refreshments at the Weaver Middle School near our new location. If you have some time between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m., why not stop by, meet our new neighbors, and help us serve the goodies? You can also see the new church!
Looking at the calendar, I want to encourage you to be sure to mark May 26 on your calendar. That evening we will gather at Homestead Park for our annual church picnic.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday.
Your Pastor,
Wayne
YOUTH AND EDUCATION
CROSS TRAINING: YOUTH
Cross Training on Sunday evenings is done for the school year, and will resume this fall. Andrew Tinn is leading a youth worship team and rehearsals have begun. They plan to practice again on May 19th. Contact Andrew for details.
CLUB VBS, JUNGLE JAUNT: July 7th – 11th VOLUNTEERS AND CHILDREN: REGISTER NOW!
Club VBS will again take place at a park! This year, join us at Homestead Park outside of Hilliard. Another change is that VBS will take place from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., in the evening. This means that more volunteers will be available, and we need your help! Contact Debbie Oliphant or me for more information. Register online now, at the church websitewww.crossingcommunity.org
When Love Hurts
Perhaps you know someone who is in an abusive relationship. How can you help? The cycle of domestic violence will be explored at Lifetree Café. The program, titled “When Love Hurts: Ending the Cycle of Domestic Violence,” provides practical strategies for removing those suffering domestic violence from their abusive situations. Invite a friend and come join in the conversation at Lifetree Café. The Café experience provides a comfortable place and time to gather weekly to explore life and faith. We meet in the Tree of Life cafeteria every Monday at 7:00 p.m. Snacks and refreshments are provided. Child care is available upon request. Visit the web site at lifetreecafe.com for more information or “Like” our Facebook page at Lifetree Café Upper Arlington.
THANKS for going “out on a limb.”
The Lifetree Café motto is “Doing Life. Doing Good,” and encourages us to go “out on a limb” by reaching out into our community, our nation, and even our world. Thanks to many of you who supported the “Help Squash Malaria” campaign, we collected $273.00 or enough to buy 46 nets. Each net can protect up to three children, so potentially, 138 children will be protected as a result of your support! If you are interested in further support of this campaign, or even going on an international mission trip, please let me know.
In His
Service,
Tracy

Annie Armstrong Offering
An angel of the Lord spoke to Philip: ‘Get up and go south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.’ 27So he got up and went. There was an Ethiopian man, a eunuch and high official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of her entire treasury. He had come to worship in Jerusalem 28and was sitting in his chariot on his way home, reading the prophet Isaiah aloud. 29The Spirit told Philip, ‘Go and join that chariot.’ 30When Philip ran up to it, he heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, ‘Do you understand what you’re reading?’ 31‘How can I,’ he said, ‘unless someone guides me?’ So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.” (Acts 8:26-31 HCSB)
The Crossing Community goal for 2013 is $3.000.00. So far we have collected $375.00 toward our goal. Please consider how God would have you help us reach our goal.
BABY DEDICATION
Please contact the church office if you would like to have a child dedicated on Sunday, May 12th, Mother’s Day.
STOWE UPDATE
Dear CCC family,
236 people were served at the Stowe Baptist Center Soup Kitchen in April. I would like to especially thank Paul and Bonnie Althoff, Bill Coulter, and Jenifer Wilkerson who helped prepare and serve the meal. Their love and service to God’s people is most appreciated. I could not do it without your prayers, financial support, and willingness to cook, and to go and serve as needed. With the increase in the number of people we are serving, there is a need for more people to help. Three people in addition to me are needed to travel to Stowe on the third Tuesday of every month. We cook on the third Monday of every month, and then serve on Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m. I’d love to have you participate any way you can. This ministry is greatly needed. I appreciate all of your efforts so much. Your sister-in-Christ, Kathy Leach
Dear Friends of Crossing Community,
I want to thank you so much for the generous gifts, the lovely cards and your kind words of appreciation this past Sunday. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated!!! I look forward to being of service to our Lord for many years to come.
Sincerely,
Nancy Cheek
